Read MoreThe response to the invasive freshwater clam Corbicula fluminea has transitioned to long-term management under the Freshwater Biosecurity Partnership Programme. Check Clean Dry advocacy work for the next summer update: Budgets for the 25/26 year are still to be confirmed. MPI hope to be in the same position as last year where they could provide seed funding to regions for a Check Clean Dry advocacy contract. There is one contract per region, however Waikato has had two contracts because of need. Last summer Tuwharetoa Māori Business Trust and DOC undertook the Check Clean Dry advocacy contract Taupo. A significant rain event occurred in Taupō yesterday afternoon which resulted in surface flooding, slips, a tomo and an increase in volumes discharging through Taupō District Council's Taupō Wastewater Treatment Plant, due to rainwater infiltrating the wastewater network.
